Beauty in a Memory of Elena Guaccero
I had the privilege of meeting Elena Guaccero in the early 1990s. Her house, as often happens, spoke of her even before I met her. It was a particular house, something beautiful but unusual, a modern and elegant imprint, different from the other houses I had seen in Venice. Colour was a very important element, as was light. The paintings on the walls and the innumerable geometric wooden sculptures that occupied an entire wall in the living room were her work: there was a perfect harmony between those bright colours, the Venetian furniture and the colour of the water of the Giudecca canal that, together with the sky, became part of this fascinating interior.
Elena was always there, sitting at her huge table with her hands in motion ‘creating’ her countless shapes..
Kind and refined, I always felt honoured to be able to visit that house and her daughters Alessandra and Anna-Maria.
