Childhood Memories
I always feel strong emotions when I think of and see the works of art created by Anna Maria and Alessandra’s mother. They awaken memories of when I was a child and I used to see her leaning over her table having fun with stickers of all sizes and colours, creating fantastic stories or retelling ancient ones. Cutting, filing, colouring and framing wood to create geometric figures that changed and amazed with every movement. I was fascinated by her work, but even more so by the woman herself who was so original, independent, inscrutable and fun, always absorbed in her work to the point that preparing lunch for us little girls was the least of her worries.
It was an honour to grow up and see her works being made. She would always ask us what we thought of them to make sure that they always had the power to amaze.
Thank you Anna Maria, I’m sure your mother is happy because she lives on through her ‘Objects’.
